Should I use pork of beef sausages?

We definitely prefer to use the beef Lit’l Smokies, but you could substitute them with the pork version if you wanted. It won’t change the recipe at all.

How do you store this recipe?

We store this recipe in glass 4 cup meal prep containers. Since they are so quick and easy to reheat, we just place a handful on a plate in the morning.

Tips From the Kitchen

Use toothpicks or skewers to secure the bacon: Some people have an issue with the bacon loosening from the Lit’l Smokies sausage during the air frying process. We have not found this to be a significant issue yet. But if you want to make sure every piece of bacon stays tight to the sausage, you can place a toothpick or wooden skewer through them. This is also a good way to turn this recipe into a party appetizer.

Stay away from thick bacon: For this recipe, you’ll definitely want to use bacon that is on the thin or original. Using a thick bacon could cause the Lit’l Smokies to be overcooked, or the bacon to be undercooked.  

Top with BBQ sauce: If you want to add a bit more flavor, top each of the bacon wrapped sausages with BBQ sauce before cooking.

  • 3 3.4 cup meal prep containers

Ingredients
  

  • 14 oz Lit'l Smokies smoked sausage
  • 16 oz bacon
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar packed

Instructions
 

  • Pour brown sugar in a bowl.
  • Cut bacon strips in half, widthwise.
  • Wrap one strip of bacon around each sausage link, roll in brown sugar and place in air fryer in a single layer.
  • Air fry on 325° and cook until the bacon is crisp, approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Remove and serve or place in meal prep containers.
