FAQs About Pizza Quesadillas

How do you cut the quesadillas?

I normally use a large knife to cut the quesadillas into thirds (after folding them in half). You could cut the quesadillas in halves or into fourths, or any other size that is easiest for you to consume. If you use two tortillas, instead of folding one tortilla in half (I talk about this a bit more below), you can cut the quesadilla into fourths with a knife or pizza cutter.

Can I cook these quesadillas in the oven?

Using the oven instead of a skillet is a great way to make multiple quesadillas at the same time, as opposed to one-by-one in a skillet. To make these pizza quesadillas in the oven, preheat it to 350°F, build the quesadillas on a large baking sheet, and cook for about 5 minutes. Remove the quesadillas, fold and/or flip (depending on how you are making them) and heat the other side for 2-3 minutes.

Can I use an air fryer instead of the skillet?

Yes, you can use an air fryer instead of cooking these quesadillas in a skillet. However, you’ll want to make sure the quesadillas are folded and/or pressed very firmly so that the ingredients don’t fall out while cooking. And, depending on your air fryer, you may need to cut the quesadillas prior to air frying them so that they fit. As long as the quesadillas are firmly pressed and closed, they should cook in about 5 minutes at 400°F.

What’s a good dipping sauce for pizza quesadillas?

When it comes to pizza, you can never go wrong with using the classic ranch dressing dipping sauce. Hot sauce is another great option if you’re looking to add some heat to your pizza. Other good options are marinara sauce or hot honey (which seems to be a big craze right now).

How do I store leftovers?

While I find it unlikely that there will be leftovers, I’ll answer this question… These are best stored wrapped in aluminum foil and stored in the refrigerator, where they will stay good for about 2 days. Be aware that these pizza quesadillas will be saucy and could leak. To reheat any leftovers, place them on a heated skillet for 1-2 minutes on each side.

Tips to Make Amazing Quesadillas

Consider additional ingredients: I went with the classic pepperoni pizza for these quesadillas. If you’re looking to add more flavor, you can fill these quesadillas with just about any traditional pizza ingredient. Sliced jalapenos, banana peppers, mushrooms or black olives can all be added to these pizza quesadillas.

Consider an alternative way to make them: In this recipe, I fold the quesadillas in half, as I normally do with any quesadilla. You could avoid folding the quesadilla and simply add a second tortilla on top of the pizza. Just be sure to heat both sides of the quesadilla, whichever way you decide to go.

Add butter to the skillet: You can add a little more flavor to the tortillas by adding a bit of butter to the skillet when heating them. Just enough to coat the pan which should be between around 1/4 tbsp.
