Frequently Asked Questions About Making Boneless Country Style Ribs
What BBQ sauce do you recommend?
Typically, my go-to BBQ sauce that is nationally available is Stubbs. For this recipe, I typically use Stubbs Original or Sticky Sweet BBQ Sauce. I’ve also made it with Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce, and it didn’t disappoint! I’d recommend using your favorite BBQ sauce whether its store bought or homemade.
Will this recipe work with bone-in ribs?
Yes! While I make this recipe with boneless country style ribs, it can be made with spareribs or baby back ribs. But keep in mind that the cooking times will vary depending on the type of rib you’re using. Whether you use bone-in or boneless ribs, they will be fully cooked when the internal temperature reaches 195 degrees Fahrenheit. If you don’t have a food thermometer, I highly recommend adding one to your kitchen.
How long can these ribs be stored in the refrigerator?
These boneless ribs can be refrigerated for 3 to 4 days when placed in an airtight container. If refrigerated, they can be reheated easily using a microwave. If you plan to reheat this recipe and/or use it for meal prepping, I recommend adding sauce to your container to before microwaving to help prevent the ribs from drying out.
What side dish do you recommend for these boneless ribs?
I chose to pair these boneless ribs with our oven-baked home fries recipe. I found this to be a great option. Its a quick and easy side recipe that takes just 5 minutes to prepare and then around 25 minutes to cook in the oven.
Tips for Making the Perfect Boneless Ribs
Sear the Ribs: One easy way to lock in an additional layer of flavor is to sear the ribs before adding them to the slow cookier. To do this, simply heat both sides of the ribs in a hot skillet for a couple of minutes. While this step is optional, it is highly recommended. You will definitely notice the enhanced flavor!
Cover in Sauce While Cooking: I recommend splashing these ribs with the sauce periodically while they’re cooking. I aimed for once every 30 minutes during the cooking process. I’ve found that this helps prevent the ribs from drying out.
Don’t Overcrowd the Slow Cooker: You’ll want to make sure your ribs have enough room to be surrounded by the sauce in the slow cooker. This will help the ribs soak up the flavor as it cooks. Overcrowding the slow cooker will greatly reduce the amount of flavor the ribs are able to soak in and leave this meal bland.
Thickening the Sauce: If you prefer a thicker BBQ sauce, remove the ribs after they’ve cooked. Let the sauce simmer in the slow cooker on high for about 15 to 20 minutes. Stir the sauce occasionally. Then, return the ribs to the slow cooker to keep warm or pour the sauce of the ribs before serving.
